What's New in Amazon Seller Central This Quarter
What's new in Amazon Seller Central this quarter: AI tools, FBA changes, CX score updates, listing enhancements & more to keep your store ahead.
Amazon Seller Central continues to evolve rapidly. Each quarter brings new tools, policy shifts, and interface improvements that can impact how sellers operate, optimize listings, and scale. Staying current isn't just helpful — it's essential for maintaining competitiveness.
In this article, we'll unpack the most meaningful updates in the past quarter, explain their implications, and offer tactical tips for leveraging them in your Amazon business.
1. AI & Generative Tools: Getting Smarter, Faster
Product Performance Spotlight (AI-powered coaching)
Amazon introduced a new AI-powered Product Performance Spotlight tool that acts like a real-time coach for sellers. It benchmarks your new product launches against similar listings and surfaces alerts such as low inventory, underperforming ads, or declining sales momentum.
Why it matters:
This tool helps identify issues early — instead of waiting weeks for performance to lag, you get nudged to act faster.
Tactical tip:
Monitor alerts daily and tie them into your operational dashboards so you don't miss "interesting signals."
Generative AI for listing improvement ("Enhance My Listing")
Amazon rolled out a generative AI tool that helps automatically improve product listings (titles, bullets, descriptions) based on inputs you submit.
Why it matters:
It accelerates listing optimization, especially for large catalogs, and helps maintain consistency across SKUs.
Tactical tip:
Use it as a first draft, then layer in your brand voice and SEO keywords manually before finalizing.
2. Listing Policy & Guidelines Updates
New Product Title Requirements (2025)
Starting January 21, 2025, Amazon enforced updated title rules to improve clarity and consistency across the marketplace.
What's changed:
- Tighter limits on length, character usage, and allowed attributes
- Avoidance of promotional language, keywords stuffing, or redundant info
- Standardization across categories to reduce misuse
Tactical tip:
Review your top SKUs immediately. Titles that violate guidelines may be de-ranked or rejected — prioritize compliance.
3. Fulfillment & FBA Policy Shifts
FBA Capacity Limits & IPI Adjustments
Ahead of peak sales periods (June–July 2025), Amazon imposed stricter FBA capacity limits. Sellers saw cuts in their inventory allowances — in some cases, reductions up to 75%. They also tweaked IPI (Inventory Performance Index) policies and how storage is allotted.
Why it matters:
Less buffer room for stocking ahead of Prime Day or holiday pushes.
Tactical tip:
Use 3PL or external warehouses as contingency, prioritize your best-selling SKUs in FBA, and monitor your IPI frequently.
Fee Adjustment Logic for Carrier Measurement Discrepancies
From June 12, 2025, Amazon started adjusting seller fees if the weight or dimensions declared in shipment creation differ from the actual measured values.
- If you overstate dims/weight → you may get a credit
- If you understate → you may be charged extra
Tactical tip:
Invest in accurate weighing and measuring tools. Before labeling shipments, double-check dims vs actual to avoid surprise charges.
4. New Metrics & Performance Frameworks
Customer Experience (CX) Score System
Amazon unveiled a new CX Score system that influences Buy Box eligibility, ranking, and seller trust. It aggregates metrics such as returns, feedback, and other operational signals.
Why it matters:
Even if your advertising or SEO is strong, poor CX metrics can drag down your overall performance.
Tactical tip:
Build dashboards to monitor CX components, set performance thresholds, and be proactive in improving weak spots (returns, response times, order defects).
Shipping Performance Refresh in Dashboard
Now, in the Seller Central dashboard under Shipping Performance, Amazon shows daily refreshed status updates — making it more real-time.
Tactical tip:
Check this daily rather than relying solely on alert emails. Trends often show early signals of issues with your carrier or logistics setup.
5. Seller News & Communication Hub Enhancements
Revamped "Seller News" on Desktop
Amazon redesigned the Seller News experience in Seller Central (desktop), with improved navigation, curated featured stories, and filtering by category or time.
Tactical tip:
Explore the new categories (Policy & Compliance, Fulfill Orders, Grow Your Business) to find updates relevant to your needs faster.
"Stay Informed" Tab in the Seller App (mobile)
They added a Stay Informed tab to the mobile Seller app, making it easier to access vital announcements and business-critical updates on the go.
Tactical tip:
Enable push notifications for this tab so you don't miss urgent alerts even when you're away from your desktop.
6. Research & Insights Tools Expanded
2-Year Trend Data in Product Opportunity Explorer
Amazon quietly extended the historical data window in Product Opportunity Explorer from one year to two years.
Why it matters:
Longer time horizons help you detect seasonality, cyclical demand, and longer trends — not just short spikes.
Tactical tip:
Use two-year trends when validating new niches or re-evaluating slow sellers.
"Fee Explainers" – Greater Transparency in Fee Breakdown
Amazon rolled out new Fee Explainers, which clarify how various charges (referral, FBA, storage, etc.) are calculated on each transaction.
Tactical tip:
Use fee explainers to audit margin leaks, identify overcharged products, and negotiate more accurately.
7. Incentives, Promotions & Seller Benefits Updates
Enhanced New Selection & Seller Incentives (2025)
Starting January 15, 2025, Amazon offered time-bound discounts and incentives for sellers adding new SKUs, especially in targeted categories. This is part of Amazon's push to encourage growth in underrepresented product segments.
Tactical tip:
If you have niche SKUs or new products in unexplored categories, apply for these incentives early to catch the discount period.
Fee Freeze & Adjustments
While Amazon typically revises referral and FBA fees yearly, for the US market in 2025 they confirmed there will not be increases or new fee types, and some fees will be lowered or benefit programs enhanced.
What it signals:
Amazon is aiming to stabilize seller costs amid broader macro pressures.
Tactical tip:
Use this window to renegotiate internal cost structures, reallocate budget to growth (ads, branding) rather than padding for future increases.
Implications & Strategic Takeaways
- •Data & responsiveness matter more than ever. With AI nudges and real-time dashboards, latency in reacting to insights becomes more costly.
- •Operational excellence is a competitive edge. The CX Score, tighter FBA limits, and fee discrepancies mean that small logistical or compliance gaps can snowball into ranking penalties.
- •Testing, experimentation & transparency are winners. Tools like enhanced listing AI, fee explainers, and improved research windows give sellers more control — use them.
- •Budget & inventory planning require adaptability. With fluctuating FBA capacities, pricing adjustments, and incentive windows, rigid yearly plans may break under quarterly changes.
- •Stay informed and don't miss hidden changes. The redesigns in Seller News, mobile alerts, and policy shifts underline that critical updates may hide in plain sight — prioritize a process to check them regularly.
Final Thoughts
This quarter's updates to Seller Central show a clear direction: Amazon is pushing toward smarter automation, transparency, and performance-driven enforcement. The tools they introduce — from AI coaches to fee explainers — level the playing field, but they also raise expectations for sellers' speed, precision, and consistency.
To stay ahead, treat each new feature not as optional, but as a potential lever in your growth machine. Audit your performance, experiment with new tools, and adapt your workflows continuously.
